Ama-Cleanse
Ama is the collective name in Ayurveda for all substances that put a strain on the human physiology and thus impede the free flow of the inner mechanisms for draining the body. The literal translation of Ama is: ‘undigested’.
Ayurveda distinguishes the three types of Ama: undigested food, toxins absorbed from outside, and mental Ama. We produce most of the Ama ourselves, and that is when our Agni (Ayurvedic understanding for the digestive power) is not sufficiently strong. As a consequence, nutrients are not sufficiently metabolized and the body then has to ‘store’ them somewhere. But in addition, there are some harmful substances from the environment that do not completely break down on their own. These include, for example, pesticides and herbicides. Even mental impressions that have not been properly ‘digested’, can according to Ayurveda become mental Ama and have a disruptive effect on health, for example in the form of stress hormones or acid deposits. Over time, this ‘waste material’ can accumulate in the body and hinder the free transport of matter and energy. We may then feel ‘run down’, lacking in energy or excessively tired.
Ama-Cleanse contains a mixture of highly beneficial bitter and sharp herbs.
Ayurveda places great emphasis on a type-specific diet, as fresh as possible, since this helps prevent the formation of Ama. Ayurveda recommends a number of measures to reduce existing Ama and maintain balance in the physiology.
