Movement: is a predominant trait of Vata dosha, and why it is known as the "principle of movement". The elements of ether (space) and air are associated with this dosha. According to Ayurvedic teachings on health, Vata dosha governs all movement in both body and mind, for example: thinking, speaking, breathing, heartbeat, and all kinds of bodily movements. When Vata is balanced you feel full of energy, happy, enthusiastic, and creative; the mind is vital, calm, clear and alert.
Too much Vata can cause Vata disorders, such as dry skin, nervousness, lack of resilience, interrupted sleep, poor memory, underweight, and irregular appetite and bowel movements.
When Vata dosha is out of balance, one enjoys rest, regularity, and nutritious, warm and slightly oily foods, hot drinks, morning oil massage, avoidance of over-stimulation, and soothing music, such as Gandharva Veda melodies.
