Chitrakadi Vati Food Supplement, Ayurvedic herbal preparation
Chitrak or Plumbago zeylanica is one of the main components of this ayurvedic formulation and is one of the oldest ayurvedic plants. It has a spicy flavour and light, dry and Pitta-increasing properties.
Chitrakadi Vati also contains many spices, for example, black pepper, “pippali” (Piper longum, long pepper), Piper chaba, a variant of the long pepper, as well as ginger and asafoetida. According to Ayurveda, each of these spices support digestion resp. agni*, the digestive fire. Moreover, various ayurvedic salts help to balance Pitta.
Chitrakadi Vati is recommended when Pitta is very low.
