Energy, passion, ambition, vitality – These are the predominant traits of Pitta types, and Pitta is therefore associated with "heat" and ‘transformation’.
In terms of elements, Pitta dosha is associated mainly with fire, but also with water. In humans, according to Ayurvedic teachings on health, Pitta is responsible for digestion, metabolism and body temperature, and it promotes a sharp intellect and strong emotions. When balanced Pitta gives satisfaction, energy, eloquence, strong digestion, and a clear mind.
The fiery Pitta dosha is best kept in balance by cooling foods (ghee, sweet fruits, diluted Lassi) and light meals such as vegetables or rice, with a side salad. In general, sweet, bitter and astringent foods and medicinal herbs, and refreshing drinks such as Pitta tea, fruit juices or fruit lassi are recommended. A gentle oil massage in the morning with Pitta massage oil or coconut oil is soothing to Pitta.
Ayurveda has many recipes, spices and essential oil blends that are specifically recommended for Pitta types or Pitta dosha imbalances. We have selected the most important products for your convenience here.
