Tip 1: The Correct Water for your Constitution

Not without reason the Ayurvedic hot water cure is well known and well loved. Water is simultaneously an important life-giver and a purifier. When boiled, the energy and quality of the water are raised which can, for example, stimulate the 'digestive fire', Agni. Simply boil water in an open pot for about ten minutes in the morning, pour it into a thermos flask, and sip small amounts regularly throughout the day.

Our '30-day tip' for you to try: Preparation of the water to match your constitution / your Dosha type (Vata, Pitta, Kapha). Here's how it's done:

Warm Water for Vata-types Ingredients

  • 2 l water
  • 3 mint leaves
  • ½ tsp. fennel seeds
  • ¼ tsp. marshmallow root

Preparation

  • Boil the water for 5 minutes
  • Remove from the stove
  • Add the spices
  • Pour into a thermos flask

For Vata-types it is best to sip the water warm, but not too hot. Sip throughout the day.

Room Temperature to Warm Water for Pitta-types Ingredients

  • 2 l water
  • ½ tsp. fennel seeds
  • 2 rose buds
  • 1 clove

Preparation

  • Boil the water for 2 minutes
  • Remove from the stove
  • Add the spices
  • Pour into a thermos flask

As a Pitta-type you already have a lot of heat. Therefore, the water is especially beneficial for you if you allow it to cool down in a cup for a short while before drinking it. In the summer, room temperature is sufficient, but in the winter it is alright to drink your water a bit warmer. Enjoy your water in sips throughout the day.

Hot Water for Kapha-types Ingredients

  • 2 l water
  • 3 basil leaves
  • 2 thin slices of ginger
  • ¼ tsp. cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp. fennel seeds

Preparation

  • Boil the water for 5 minutes
  • Remove from the stove
  • Add the spices
  • Pour into a thermos flask

Since Kapha-type individuals are more likely to get cold, it's best to drink your water hot. The herbs will also help warm you up from the inside. Enjoy your water in sips throughout the day.
